Whānau Duties
Whānau are actively encouraged to participate in the running of the preschool with one parent being rostered on as “whānau help” for every morning session. Whānau help is encouraged so that parents can gain a greater understanding of the programme offered to their children and be involved in their children’s learning. It also enables the teachers to focus on the children.
Parents with a younger sibling under 1 year of age are not expected to be part of the roster unless they state otherwise. Preschool is an accredited (July 2015) Breastfeeding Friendly environment to help support nursing mothers while visiting.
The number of whānau duties per term depends on the number of sessions your child is attending. For a ‘full time’ child this normally equates to 2-3 whānau help duties a term. More information will be given to you once your child begins attending.
