Fees

Lake Okareka Preschool’s timetable is session based.  Monday to Friday 8.15am-3.30pm are offered to all children 2.5 years and older. Tuesday and Thursday afternoon sessions have a focus for our 4 year old children supporting their transition to school which includes lots of fun projects, trips and more structured activities stemming from their passions and interests.

An 8.15am start is available all days, which is great for working parents. We follow the term dates of the primary school calendar each year and are closed during school holidays. Parents and whānau are welcome to stay for as long as you like, especially when they are settling in to their new preschool.

Children can start at 2 and a half years. Please get in touch to find out about our waitlist.
20 ECE HOURS are available for 2.5 year olds to 6 year olds for a maximum of 6 hours per day.
To discuss hours, availability and fees please send us a message, pop in and visit or call us on 07 362 8606.

Settling In Children
The initial days of attendance can be unsettling for both child and parent. The teachers will support you both in this transition. Prior to beginning preschool you will be invited to attend sessions with your child to begin the initial transition process if you wish. At the official starting date you are encouraged to stay until your child is happy to be left with the teachers. Preschool is an accredited (July 2015) Breastfeeding Friendly environment to help support nursing mothers while visiting.

"George spent a wonderful year last year at Okareka Preschool. He was new to the school in February 2017 but fitted in so easily for his final year at preschool. The three enthusiastic, warm and caring teachers love what they do. The large learning and play area is well equipped with plenty of space for hands on fun. The teachers provided plenty of varied activities and excursions throughout the year to aid in learning. But what I liked most as a parent was seeing the values of sharing and kindness emphasised throughout the preschool daily. Thank you, Okareka Preschool, for all the lovely memories!"

"Thank you for taking such excellent care of Jasper over the last few years and helping to shape him into the kind and respectful person he’s growing to be. I know he’s going to miss you all but hope he has lots of good memories, which I’m sure he has, and we’ll be sure to come to events you put on to catch up. I remember Leslie saying “I’ve got the best job in the whole world’ to me before Jasper started there, and it really does show, you are all fantastic and make Lake Okareka Preschool the amazing place it is.  We will all miss you and look forward to bringing Quinn in a few years’ time."
